We look forward to the annual Los Angeles Polish Festival every year. The food, the culture, the language… For us it’s the closest experience to visiting Poland without actually making a trip out there. Which we will eventually. There were performances, traditional highlander/mountaineer (górale) dances, vendors, beer (piwo), and drum roll please… food. Seth had a filling selection to choose from. Quite the opposite of what was available to a vegetarian like me. My options were pierogi and various pastry desserts. Which I had absolutely no problem with. I could eat pierogi all day. In fact, I did. I loved it.
Please enjoy a few highlights from our day. I did not include teasing pictures of food because I am not that mean. What you will see however, are beautiful pieces of woodwork which was one of the things highlanders were known for. An adorable older couple from the audience that got up to dance together, others got up to move chairs to make more room for them. Then is a young girl, one of the performers, wearing traditional mountaineer attire. She is wearing leather shoes called kierpce.
There were so many more wonderful things not pictured. If you would like to see more pictures, several years ago I made a post about the festival on my blog, click here to see it. I am already looking forward to the event next year.
